Joshi and David E. Schultz edited the collected poetry of Clark Ashton Smith, issued by Hippocampus Press 3 vols — , Joshi is working on the collected poetry of George Sterling. Hippocampus Press has announced their new two-volume edition of his unabridged Lovecraft biography in excess of , words , to appear August as I Am Providence: The Life and Times of H. Lovecraft ; this restores , words cut for space reasons from the original edition, and is also thoroughly revised and updated in regard to new information on Lovecraft that has come to light since Joshi will also edit an exhaustively annotated edition of Lovecraft's work for Bloodletting Press, to appear in two volumes and Joshi has been asked by film director Guillermo del Toro to act as a consultant on del Toro's long-mooted film project, a cinematic version of Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness.

Howard and Brian Lumley particularly having taken umbrage at criticisms levelled at them by Joshi in his books. Joshi is renowned for being an outspoken critic and demanding that any given literary work be of aesthetic quality, regarding the mere criterion of 'popularity' as an insufficient measure of a work's literary worth.
